Shortly after the ending of World War I the beginning of World War II began. It started in 1939 and ended in 1945. This war involved many world powers and the sides were split into two. There was the the Axis Powers and there was the Ally Powers. We fought with the allies and the powerhouse German force fought for the Axis Powers. It was a widespread war involving 100 million military personal in the war. The countries that were participating in the war the most changed their whole focus towards the war economically, industrially, and scientifically. The gap between civilian and military workforce disappeared and all work went to the war. This was the deadliest conflict in history with 70 million people dead.
The war began when Hitler and the Nazi force invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939. Hitler began as a political power at first in Germany, slowly gaining the trust and power from the German people. He slowly put his ideas into play and introduced the Nazi idea. The German people followed blindly and Hitler eventually gained the power to do whatever he wanted. When he invaded France followed by declaring war on Germany.
On the other side of the world, many countries already began to fight. With Japan invading China, they killed all in their sight. Japan was slaughtering the helpless civilians also. With all this happening, including the ruthless persecution of the Jews, the U.S. still decided to be neutral and they didn't join the war. We didn't involve ourselves until the day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. After this surprise attack the U.S. joined the war and eventually ended it.
